Do not know much about Audis...is this a good car and deal

Looks very nice, but do be prepared for some repairs. This is no a honda civic and it's going to cost substantially more to keep it running.

Way too high. If you're looking at a high mileage a6, find one with the 3.0 engine. The 2.7T is a great engine, but it notorious for needing turbo replacement at some point in its lifetime. I'd actually be impressed if it is on its original turbos at 154k. By any chance, does the dealer have the service records for the car?

considering both of those issues, no price is a fair price

A audi out of warranty is priced to high.

<-- worked on way to many Audi's/VW's

goodness...did not know they were such troublesome cars....why do they cost so damn much then? whats the point of buying a super high maintenance car? you'd think with the German Engineering that they would be pretty tight...i just dont get it...other than the mantra of lets quadruple our profits on the service..?

you think ferraris are maintenance free just cause they cost $100's of thousands? 😛

you're looking at an old vehicle with 150,000 miles on it. regardless of the vehicle, there's a good chance things can take a turn for the worse.

if extremely well maintained, audis are fine. but that's the key - need to be on top of things.

it is a fast car when running right. a nice looking year yes it is. from a numbers stand points it looks great. the amount of money for the amount of features, HP and etc you get that is perfect. Now enter audi's name and its problems with turbo v6, it is very cramped in there, overall higher labor rates. Small electrical stuff. Both my friends own A4's and love them to death but the small electric things get annoying, even with extended warranty. The warranty covers about 50% of the problems, car has way too many " little problems" that do add up to a BIG problem.

I think in the 2.7T have turbo seal related failures which are $4000 to replace alone and i forgot how long it needs it to be done every 50k or 75k. on the bright side i think if you buy it and drive it for 2 years and in turn sell it you shouldn't be down too much money. this is ONLY if you have a thick skin and are completely it DIY guy. maybe you can handle 35% of the problems on your own so its free and the other amount you can ignore. audi owners seem to be good at ignoring problems.

That's a little pricey for the milage, though it could be a good deal if it's on a second set of turbos. A6s aren't as bad on them as the S4 (the engine compartment is bigger, so the cooling and airflow are improved), but at 150K it's a possibility that one or the other turbo will go.

I bought a 2000 2.7T A6 (loaded with full maintenance history) for $7400 with 109K miles last year.

The A6 isn't as prone to turbo failure as the S4s (less cramped and people don't rag on them as much). My car has 117K on the original turbos with no issues what so ever ... the car spools up nice and pulls strong.

That being said, if the turbos go it's a big ticket item. The engine needs to come out for the replacement, so unless you DIY get ready to bend over.

i say its expensive. and prepare to pay THROUGH THE ROOF for repairs on an almost 10 year old car which was never known for good reliability.
