I didn't read the article, but when I was in the military, when it came time to have an allotment going to "non profit" organizations that the military pushed every year, the Red Cross had one of the highest "admininstrative" percentages. I think in was almost 30%. United Way was even worse.

I mean, for every $1.00 you give, .30 goes for adminstrative fees?

I just wish the book that the military gave us was available to everybody. For a organization to be listed in there, they had to list what percentage actually went to those who you were sending it for and what was going towards "administrative" fees..

I was surprised by some of the percentages that I saw.

I would only send money to organizations that were under 10%.

Castrate yourself please. The Gov is pushing the birth of babies because it generates more revenues for the hospitals...which in turn feed the money back to the goverment through this super secret thing called...taxes (please dont tell anyone i told you). You need to run..dont walk...and castrate yourself as soon as possible.

I will never donate to the Red Cross again. They completely mismanaged funds they received for 9/11. Plenty of other organizations that are more responsible with donations received.

Kudos to the Red Cross for only giving out $154 of the $564 million collected after 911. There was no reason to give out more than that. It's not like there was tons of homeless people running around without food after the tragedy in NYC. In fact, the hospitals were rather quiet because the majority of 911 victims ended up dead and nothing could be done for them to begin with. And I certainly don't agree with giving any more money to the families of victims of 911. Various organizations already turned these peope into multi-millionaires. They don't need a dime more, thus Red Cross can hold on to the money for more serious tragedies where the need is much greater.
