DO NOT DO BUSINESS THROUGH PRICELINE.COM

I am a very dissatisfied customer of Priceline.com's. I requested airline tickets about a week ago for a flight from Detroit to Orlando, asking for a flight leaving DET on Feb 28th and arriving back in DET on March 4th. After waiting for an email back, I got a flight ticket back, saying that I would leave DET on Feb 28th which was great, but here is the problem, I got a arrival time back in DET on Sat, March 3rd!!!.... I could not return on this date and never requested this date. I talked to the customer representatives and they gave me bull about how I could not change or cancel it although it was a bogus ticket they were giving me. After calling back several times, i finally got them to budge, they let me cancel and resubmitt a new request. Here is the other problem, for some bullcrap reason, I could not re-request a date of return of the date I wanted, since it was on the original request. Does that make any sense to anyone?... Anyays, I asked if I had any other option, since I could not come back on March 5th either. They said my only chance was to hope it would be rejected and then I could pay 75 dollar per ticket to cancel... well of course the request went through, and I got a arrival time back in DET on March 5th. Still useless tickets to me (3 tickets btw), I talked to the people and they said I could not do anything, I told them that I was willing to pay the cancellation fee, but they said I couldn't because I used my one-time cancellation and resubmission, I have eailed them constantly, but I get the same stupid response..."That's our policy"... so basically they could give you a ticket for 2 months ago, and you would HAVE to pay for it. Does this make sense to anyone?... DO NOT EVER BID ON PRICELINE!!!!!!!!

I'm not advocating PriceLine, but are you telling us EXACTLY what happened or were you trying to play the system. Sorry, but I know how we all think here at Anandtech 🙂, price match here, use a coupon there, submit a rebate...

I've used priceline before, and never had a problem. There have been complaints about the customer service there, but the CS people have been especially friendly when I had some website troubles. I wish you didn't use anandtech for personal rantings of this sort.

Don't use them for airfare if the trip is important. Do use them for hotels and rental cars.

NTWF (nice thread, wrong forum)

In before the luck perhaps? 😛

I've only used Priceline.com once and I had decent results, although using Northwest airlines was a different story due to holiday delays. Still, I did my research ahead of time and I chose to use Priceline based on flexibility with dates and times.

The thing I'm wondering is what options you used when submitting a ticket request. They let you pick a "range" of dates and times.. and if you are flexible with either dates or times to get a higher chance of getting a ticket. Other options to raise your chances include flying during non-peak hours and making more connections. That being said, you should have some printout of your ticket request that lists all these options.. it should be accessible on the website as well. If priceline actually disregarded your specified options and chose a date that wasn't possible under your selections, then you might have an argument... I haven't read into the fine print for that. I just know that binding is binding with Priceline.com and I'm surprised if you can get them to cancel anything. I know they've definitely had mixed reviews by looking on epinions.com, but you have to weigh the pros and cons and determine if you really want to risk a flight atweird dates/times in order to get a big discount.

At any rate, I hope you get the situation cleared up although I don't think this was the proper forum for the topic. If they really did screw you over, I hope they will compromise to fix the situation. Keep us updated (maybe in a diff forum though) ;P.

the rates on priceline are no longer HOT, because they are loosing so much money.

I messed with 3 different accounts, and the best savings, for "non picked" hours, from tampa to atlanta, were like $5 cheaper.

i said screw it, and travelocity the tickets and picked my own times.

I think you are the problem. Just follow their rules in bidding and you will be fine. I had used them many many times, and never a problem.

Once you had the initial problems, you kept going back for more, you must be a glutten for punishment.

They were nice and cancelled that first one for you. You should've just gone somewhere else after that. My advice to you is to Read All The Rules first, then only bid if you are willing to go by whatever terms they say.

I don't know what you were trying to pull on the 5th, it looks like you were trying to pull a fast-one on them, and you got busted.

FYI - If you use a different credit card, and spell your name a little different (one letter) you can resubmit for the same days. - Probably not suppossed to, but it works.

i agree...after my first Wrong encounter with someone...i'd clear it up and then steer clear of them...but you choose to go back.. Shame on you!

as for priceline, i'd recommend them....when you use addt 25 or 50 coupons on top of your bid price, this becomes quite the HOt Deal!

If you have a ticket for say a 9pm flight and there's room on an 8pm one don't they usually let you on?

Couldn't you have just used the March 5th ticket on the 4th?

don't ever use priceline.com. apparently, anywhere plus/minus 1 hours of midnight of the days you requested is fair game with priceline.com.

Learned that through an article.

better luck next time.

wrong forum.

I had a very similar experience.
they gave me wrong return date, then they gave me all the bull they gave you.

if they send you tickets - make sure you send them back or they will not give you a refund. even though they are cancelled, you must return them.
they hit me with this after I waited the 14 days for my refund...nobody thought to mention it before....then another 14 day wait.....

But....this is not the forum to bitch about Priceline

Yeah I hate them too......I bought tix and couldn't adjust the flight time.....in order to cancel they told me to pay $75 freaking dollars to cancel a $80 Flight, how nutts is that!!

Guess customer service like this drives people away in droves, resulting in low repeat buisiness. Even Capt Kirk bailed on them...
