DO NOT BUY TAXCUT 2004.

StageLeft

No Lifer
I just did my federal return. No I didn't. I can't finish it because on the review screen it says "when we released taxcut, charitable worksheet was not yet finalized. A program update containing the final form will be available by early february."

I also cannot fvcking delete the charitable contribution and just file it ignoring that. What a kick in the balls.

Please post your tax question in the sticky tax thread in OT. A couple of our knowledgable members have volunteered to monitor this thread and help our members. This will also reduce the clutter of multiple tax threads in OT.

Thanks for understanding. 🙂

I can't believe nobody else is interested in this topic ;0 I see there is a 60 day money back guarantee. I'll go to best buy tomorrow and ask for all of my money back. Taxcut sucks me badly and I shall not use it ever again.

Wow, that is very stupid of them to do! :Q

Why the hell would they make the whole damn thing and then not finish the end?

Because they're trying to take a gouge out of their future customer base and figured this was the best way to do it.

I think people would have been happier if they didn't include a CD or anything in the box so they don't waste their time

first c-dilla by turbotax last year... then this year, this stunt pulled by taxcut... whatever happened to just keeping it simple?!

wow they ripped it on amazon.

i have used turbo tax for 6 years. except for last year when they put that spyware crap on, i have had no complaints about it.

Part of the problem is that certain guidelines were not provided by the government until the last minute.

The S/W companies were made aware of this by the IRS and had to play CYA.
It takes some time to change forms and verify that nothing else gets broken. M$ as an example.

They will not let you E-File, however, you should be able to generate paper and file that way.

When did you last run an update on the program or did it ask to update prior to review?

Also, a lifer should know better than to start a new thread regarding tax situations.:disgust:

Perfect SKOOBSTER, and let me add this to the thread.

DO NOT BUY TURBOTAX. This is not a joke, or a thread crap.

We installed it, did the online updates, and started it up. Everything was fine. My father started the procedure, all went well. Imported his last year's tax file, and it gave an error. It wouldn't load? It gave us an error message. I googled it, and saw it on the Intuit Support Forums, and a mod there said that there was a glitch in importing older tax files, and that an update would be available February 14th!

Can you believe that? Such a bunch of crap. If anyone wants more details about the problem, PM me, and I'll send you links/info etc.

Skoorbster, update your title! haha, there's no good tax software.

Oh yeah, and there were other users that were having the same problem.

Ugh.

Actually this happens every year.
Taxcut and TurboTax both do it, they make you update.
Last year I bought Turbo and waited 4 weeks for an update because I have a rental home.

too late, already bought it. its a little early to file though so it doesnt surprise me. they always do an update in feb.

yeah, you guys are putting the blame in the wrong place, it is the IRS that is holding things up and more specifically, Congress by horking up the normal cutoff of Dec 31 , they made this special law to allow Tsunami donations through Jan 31 to count for last year and that means the IRS and everyone down the food chain has to make abnormal allowances/abnormal processes

you should be blaming your Congress-person for this snafu

Let me get this straight...

You are blaming the maker of a piece of Tax software for the inability of Congress to finalize Tax information in a timely manner? The software maker couldn't finalize some sheets because our government was dragging their feet on some things, so its the software makers fault?

Yes, I know... some of us don't do caritable donations and don't need the sheets you are referring to, but for those that do need them, they are a godsend.

Basicly the software is making sure you get all the cash back from overpayment of taxes that you can and is not letting you submit until you do so... and you say that is a BAD thing?

May want to rethink your method sheet on this one. If you'd rather, I'll wait for the shet to be released and claim your deductions as mine instead. I could use a few extra bucks from the Taxman.

Sheesh..
