My roommate sent in his laptop to gatway because the power plug on it was broken. He has a UPS tracking number for the laptop and even who signed for it from Gateway in Texas. They lost it. They have no record of it in the system. Nothing.

What a nightmare!
 
So what happens next? I think if someone signed for it, they will most likely have to replace it.
 
yea all his data is on his desktop. but he is getting his MA in EE so he is really hurting right now trying to design a Pentium to ISA 8bit bridge and only being able to work at home.

I would expect they would have to replace it.

it looks like the service person gave him a service number but never filled out the service form! So it is just sitting in Texas somewhere.

what an awefull experience
