I hate it when you go to concerts, you can guarantee a restful night of sleep filled with the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ear ringing at max volume in your brain.

1. that's what earplugs are for
2. for seasoned concert goers, we are already living with this.

We've been using Etymotic ER20s for about 7 years now. Wish we started using them earlier.

This a fun read. I always heard Motorhead was the loudest. I see Manowar keeps poping up and then there was kiss

"On July 15, 2009, in Ottawa, Canada, the band Kiss achieved a SPL of 136 dB measured during their live performance (not the sound check). After noise complaints from neighbors in the area, the band was forced to turn the volume down."

Damn Canadians can't handle their loud music.

Used to go to concerts where the sound was too loud for my health. I've made it a point to move (if still possible) to a position where it's not. I just can't stand the booming/low bass parts. There was one concert I told my sister that I was leaving, good thing was the ticket was free (another family friend couldn't make it). You could hear the sound miles away. o_O

WHAT?!!! After years of listening to music in IEMs, I know I have permenant hearing issues. Most of time, I need the person to say the same thing twice. But mostly, I just wing it and guess what they're saying. Hilarity insues when that happens.

Thought: did we old people sign a mandatory arbitration clause with the evil company Ticketmaster? Class action lawsuit time! Their tickets didn't warn us that the concerts were going to cause ear damage. :)

that is what ear plugs are for.
This.
After having a fever that ended with a ruptured eardrum last summer, I get some weird static like sound from loud noise.
I like to frequently attend concerts & always bring earplugs.
I value my hearing, especially when I can enjoy quality music productions, but not so loud that it damages my hearing.

after the who's record, for the most part people stopped caring. also, after the who there aren't any bands on that list worth listening to at any volume.

I don't like loud things, but yes. The loudness of live concerts is one of the things that separates them from me just listening at home. I actually don't really like the extreme loudness so much, but I value the experience actually being different from my home theater. Actually I haven't even been to a live concert in quite a few years, but if I go to one in the future I both expect and hope for the audio levels to far outstrip what I can produce at home.
