Do most games support widescreen?

Most new ones do, and that's good enough for me. I can't stand playing older games with only a few exceptions. That and my monitor has 1:1 scaling so meh.

Maike: my 20"widescreen is 1680x1050 native and I ran CS:S in that just fine. Most games I play run that res just fine.

EA refuses to make widescreen for their FPS's on the PC, but most newer games do have WS support.

I find most games do support WS in one or another,you can normally find a hack,if not you can either do 1:1 scaling depending on monitor etc.. or stretch to full screen,some games look ok at 1280x1024 res stretched on 1680x1050 monitors (20 and 22").

I was surprised by this too. When I first switched over to WS, all my old settings were at 5:4 and I could barely notice any stretching. Still, once I switched over to the proper aspect ratio, it was clear as night and day.

Those idiots will be forced to support it properly for the Games for Windows branding which they will want to maximize sales.

Yes, technically it is an advantage to have a wider FOV in FPS online games, and sometimes in CS:Source I notice it when I see players at the edge of my screen before they see me, but with WS going mainstream (especially true with HD tv sets) it is the only way forward.

Ah i found enlightment ^^ I bought one LG 226WTQ-SF and those options appear. Even the desktop resolution is 1680x1050. Maximum that is thou i learned.

And my other concern was that stretching. I can eliminate it by using the DVI cable, and in Nvidia control panel i can choose it to scale the resolutions by keeping aspect ratio.
