Do kids still play with hotwheels / matchbox cars?

My son is 5 and he loves Hot Wheels and both he and my daughter like board games.
Great way to spend time with your kids.

I always wondered if people still collect them. They tend to be easy to track and collect its just a matter of finding them during a refresh or a high traffic area where they would be refreshed for another series.

My littlest grandson still loves them (not quite 7)
The older one, (just turned 11) almost never plays with them anymore...and hasn't since he was about 8.

I freaking loved Matchbox/Hotwheels cars when I was young. I still have ~300 sitting in the basement at my parents' house I think.

If they don't have access to their DSi, many still love to play with them. (I work with kids). I once taught a baby to make vroom noises and push a Hot Wheel before he could talk.

I used to have about 400 of the things but I know theres about 100 of them buried where my sandbox used to be at my parents place because I pretended there was an earthquake. 😛 I should bring the ones I still have out of the attic because they would make good work desk ornaments.

My kids (one of each) have access to a Mac, each have a DS, play on our iPhones and share a Wii.

They also love playing with Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars and play houses, playing "store" and playing board games (including oldies like 'Chutes and Ladders') and the like.

My 2yr old has just discovered Hot Wheels and absolutely loves them. I'm sure he'd love the tracks too. Perhaps for a Christmas present we can set him up with some tracks. He does love his wooden train set and loves to design tracks. I get the "Daddy? Help me with the tracks please?" on a nightly basis.
