do kids still go to arcades?

Somehow, there are two arcades on the drag here in austin. Despite what I assume to be extraordiarily high rent prices, both are in business. I assume that DDR makes most of the revenue for those places tho.

I'm the same way. I love playing DDR in the arcades. Home versions are definetly not the same.

Dude, I will TOTALLY slap you around with Guile or Dhalsim in the original Street Fighter II!

Back in the day when Street Fighter II, MK 1-3, and KI 1-2 were out consoles sucked MAJOR ass compared to the arcade version. All the competition was at the arcades. Now, consoles blow away the arcade games and you can go online to play a butt load of people. And I don't have to put up with those damn button pusher. 😉

Do you want to get pwned? Save the embarrassment of my Street Fighter virtuoso.

I think I posted this in another thread on here awhile back, but when I was at the Seaside Heights boardwalk this summer, I found a "nostalgia" arcade behind the carosel. The carosel by the pier not Coin Castle, I can't recall the name. Anyway, they had every game I loved to play growing up and it was heaven. I'd highly recommend stopping in for some Crazy Climber, Spy Hunter, Punch-Out, Yeair Kung-Fu, Kung Fu Master, Karate Champ, vs. Excitebike, Track and Field, or a few dozen other classics.

EDIT: This is at the Jersey shore of course!
The furthest I have to travel to play ANY of those old arcade games is my computer in my room. 🙂

Folks that are Dhalsim experts are usually pretty hard to beat. Everyone thinks he's the worst character, but he can be brutal if played right. That said, I'll bring my girl Chun Lei over and whoop everyone.

The last time I checked, they only let asian kids into arcades. And they only have variations of that Dance Dance Revolution game.

Online is not true to seeing the agony of defeat that your your opponent nex to you in the arcades.

lager and royaldank:

Dhalsim vs Ryu = mismatch (I'll win with Dhalsim every time)

Guile vs anyone = mismatch (Guile is king in SF II no "if", "ands" or "buts".) 😉

You guys find the original Street Fighter II machine and I'll personally show up to slap you guys around. 😉 I must demonstrate my magical Guile "handcuffs", "touch of death" and "power shut down" techniques on you two. If you haven't heard of ANY of these moves, prepared to get pwned!
