My girlfriend and I were watching Trading spaces the other night and I commented that the designer guy was really feminine, floofy, annoying, etc... I commented that I felt that he was a 'flamer', to put it simply...
She got all offended for some reason - "hey!! he's *married*, blah blah blah, etc"
Now don't get me wrong, I'm friends with lots of gay guys, but nothing more than that. I just felt that this particular occupation has a lot higher ratio of gay vs. hetero guys and she was in complete disagreement.
She claims that they are just more artistic, etc. I guess coming from more of a blue collar lifestyle and family I have always pictured men as being tough, useful (able to build, fix, destroy things), and strong/manly. When I think of these sissy guys putting up drapes and sewing couch covers, I tend to think they are not so manly and their annoying voices and accents, plus dramatic wrist movements don't really help out their cause either.
Any comments?
