Do intel chipsets have software upgrades all the time?

like nforce and via always seem to come out with another revision of their drivers.. do the intel based chipsets have this.

For most of them, no. LX, BX, i815, 850, etc. have generally shipped with very good chipset drivers and any later tweaks were usually optional and not needed for 99.99% of users.

For the 865 & 875 they apparently need more motherboard BIOS updates than normal to make the motherboards less "picky" about which DDR 400 sticks they'll work with, but even that isn't an update to the Windows chipset drivers.

nope - my i845E uses the drivers shipped and everythings good. Heck my old 430VX is solid as a rock and doesn't even need driver:)

Nvidia and VIA do come out with more drivers, but in my experience they are rarely "needed". Those who may have some issues with early implementations(hardware and software) may need to Update to newer drivers, but it is very rare that the same person "needs" to Update to every driver that comes out. Like most Hardware companies say, "If your system is working fine, don't bother. If you are experiencing X, Y, or Z, then use this version"
