Do I want to be an Ebay power seller?

I got an email from Ebay asking if I wanted to be a "power seller."

Basically what it amounts to is a little "power seller" logo by my name.

I'm thinking it would a turn off to people since I would seem more like a business than your friendly neighborhood seller.

I think that is my reaction to power sellers, anyhow.

What do you guys say? Would you rather buy from a regular seller or a "power seller," granted that they have an equal feedback score.

Power Sellers says to me "more experience" and "more efficient." I'm not sure what the difference will be on your end, but I seem to get faster shipping times from avid users compared to your occassional eBay seller.

I understand where you come from when you explain why you wouldn't want to be one. I prefer to pruchase from "non-store" type of sellers. But if it is just a seller, and not a store, then all it means is that you have lots of experience, and others have lots of trust with you.

I would accept.

i would tend to trust a power seller more for some reason.

I still would use caution. If there was a private seller with 100% postive feedbacks, I would tend to buy from them then a powerseller with 95% feedbacks and 22 negative ones in the last month alone.

I ran into many power sellers who post auctions before they have product. In fact, about 3 years back I bought an Ipod from a "Powerseller" took 3 months to ARRIVE!!

as long as you're the lowest price and I find you, power seller to me means reputable... so you win.

it really doesn't matter to me as long asi get my stuff, but I will say this. sometimes I hate buying from a powerseller because I'll see he has like 100+ auctions going on at once, and I won't get that 1 on 1 feedback that I like to get after I win the auction. They typicall won't ship the item out as quick as someone who only has 1 or 2 auctions going on at once also.

But again, as long as the price is cheapest and I get it, I will buy from a powerseller or a normal person, whoever has the best price and feedback.

22 negatives in one month? i would hope you wouldn't buy from them. that tells me that someone hacked their account and put up fake auctions or something like that.

let me ask this, how does one become a powerseller? is it by selling like 1000 items over your entire time on ebay or like 1000 items in a month?

if its over your entire ebay career, then really there's nothing special about it.

Huge powersellers on Ebay it is common to find ones with that many negatives in one month..The question is why the hell do people still buy from them???

It all boils down to $$$ but I rather pay a little extra not to get screwed.

i used to work for a powerseller.

1. ebay may still have the monthly sales requirement. if you dip below, they may take away the status
2. it's a nifty little status, some people trust it more (especially newbies)
3. you become a slave to your feedback. you have to keep it at 98% or above. every negative becomes a fight to get it removed.

you get your perks, but you have a lot more work all of a sudden to keep up the status. if you can do it, go for it. it works a lot better if you're doing stuff on a small scale, instead of shipping huge items.
