I finally got my system all put together and here is what I got:
Abit BX133, PIII 700, 128MB Crucial CAS2 SDRAM, stock Intel HSF
The system is stable at the following points:
940 Mhz @ 1.65v, CAS2, 30c idle, 44c Prime95 torture test
972 Mhz @ 1.75v, CAS2, 34c idle, 48c Prime95 torture test
1001 Mhz @ 1.85v, CAS2, 40c idle, 51c Prime95 torture test*
*The system did fail 1 out of about 20 Prime95 test at this speed, and if I try and run Sandra and Prime95 at the same time it crashes about 50% of the time. Might be my memory that won't do 143Mhz @ CAS2.
Anyways, I've decided to run it at 972Mhz for now at least. With these temps (34c and 48c) do I need a different HSF? If I got something like a GORB, how much would it lower those temps? I have a Inwin Q500 without any case fans and a single hard drive. I plan to add a pair of the IBM 75gxp's in the next few weeks. Will this greatly affect my CPU temps? Should I add a couple of case fans?
Thanks for any advice.
