Well, I just sat on hold for an hour to the unemployment office...

They said I do qualify with the information I gave them, but I MUST wait until the day I get laid off to apply. They said it only takes a business day for it to be processed. Here in Oregon you can start collecting immediately but If your employer disputes you might have to pay it all back.

It's a really low amount though. I'd be getting about a little less than 2/3rds of my normal pay. I'm going to be really poor until I can find another job.

You're getting 2/3rds of your pay on unemployment? That's a freaking blessing man. Most states like like less than 25% of your pay.

Your new job is now to find another job, get to work.

You sound like a smart guy, so if you are asking this question, I am pretty sure you can find a job.

If your past jobs were big money jobs, then yes, milk the system as you find the next big money job.

Milk the system nothing. They take money out of your paycheck last time I checked to fund unemployment benefits.

Dunno which state he's in, but in TX, the max unemployment you can receive before extensions is like 10 or 11k.

So just basing on that alone, 15k-17k original pay is a pretty low standard of living.

By Milk the System, I mean take the pittance that unemployment offers.

It means nothing to him, if he makes good money, but it is rightfully his.

Bumping it up.

I am just unsure as some people keep saying fud about having to be somewhere for 6 months. I'm not seeing that on any official site about it. If I don't get unemployment then I'm screwed.

You need earnings in 3 quarters. That can be as short as working the last day of the first 1/4, the entire 2nd, and 1 day in the 3rd for example. If your earnings only occurred in 2, in my State, no, you get nothing.

I did earn money in every quarter, as in I only had almost 2 months off from working. I hope that qualifies.

Still stressing out. I need a job or this asap.
