Do I need to install memory in sets of 2 or 3?

HI:

I am building an Intel core i7 PC and I am looking at this motherboard:

EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX X58 SLI LE Intel Motherboard

It has:

Number of Memory Slots: 6×240pin
Memory Standard: DDR3 1600MHz+
Maximum Memory Supported: 12GB
Channel Supported: Triple Channel

Do I have to install memory in sets of 2 or 3?

Either one will work, but sets of three is preferable for enabling triple-channel. You can even install a single DIMM if you want. (See Page 20 of your motherboard manual, if you have it handy...also available here in the link below)

Definately go for groups of three if you dont want to end up waisting your money on an i7 processor
running your memory in triple channel mode is the only way you will be able to use an i7 to its full potential
