I did something similar and broke the fifth metatarsal in 2 places. Everything you describe sounds the same. Took about 3 weeks to heal well enough not to need the boot cast. It still get's sore when the weather changes though.

You guys win... xray reveals Jones fracture in 3 directions. The orth surgeon called it a bad break but not displaced... I'm in a boot and no weight on it for 2+ weeks. 10%-15% chance it doesn't heal on its own, requiring a pin. No thanks.

They better all have me covered by insurance... I don't want to pay $800 again like that last ER visit.

I didn't even drop him, but I did scrape up my right forearm pretty good. Ironically I pretend fall all the time for their entertainment.
