Do I need to go to the doctor to get stitches taken out?

Got stitches put on the back of my hand a week ago. The doc told me to go on Monday (tomorrow) to get them taken out. I really don't want to wait 4+ hrs to get them taken out cus I know that's how long I'll wait to see a doc. Can I just take them out myself and be fine? One already came out when I was sleeping. Thanks for the help.

you likely won't see the doc. the nurse will be the one to take them out.
maybe that will cut down on your wait?

Just take them out yourself. Snip, grab with tweezers and pull. Good to go.

Sanitize the nail clippers in some rubbing alcohol - they work well for the "snip" step above. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time driving to the Dr., nor the time waiting for the doctor, just to get some stitches out.

Honestly, I'd just do it myself at home.

I've pulled my own stitches since I was a kid...staples are a different story. I let the nurse take those out.

I took my own out when I cut my hand open years ago. It was all healed up and they came out easily.

I've always taken out my own stitches. There's no reason to pay somebody to do something so easy. It would be like paying someone to untie your shoes.

Only stitches I ever had was like 16 in my knee, I had them taken out, it made me cringe, but yours aren't as bad, I would use some sterile nail clippers and tweezers or needle nose pliers.

Why would you have to wait 4 hours to see a doctor? Can't you make an appointment?

next time ask for those biodegradable stitches.. they dissolve over time.

On Mondays here it's always busy as hell. It's an urgent care.
