I just installed WinXP Pro on my system, running an Abit KG7-RAID (AMD 761). Do I need to install the chipset drivers or does WinXP already have everything right?

Nope, it's all built into XP. 🙂

2K would be borderline, i'm really not sure.

I'd grab the drivers and throw them on a disk just to be safe...

anyone? do I need to install the drivers on the Win2k OS? Or does Win2k already have the necessary files (after all the updates and SP2)?

I would install the latest drivers for both just to be safe. WinXP is approaching a year old now(it went gold ~10 months ago), so the drivers are probably out of date on it, and I'd assume Win2K too.
