Do I need to adjust voltage settings?

I have just succesfully pencilled over the bridges on my Athlon 1gig and am currently running at 12 x multiplier with clock speed of 100mhz = 1.2gig fsb 200

I also have the option of increasing clock speed to any increment up to 180.

My mobo is Epox 8KTA3+pro.

In bios I also have various voltage adjustment settings - vcore vgap etc

Should I be increasing my voltages at all when overclocking - all seems to run well with the multiplier increase but when I tried running at 1.25 by multiplying x9 - clock speed of 133, fsb 266 = 1263 mhz
my system crashed.

I am a bit of a newbie with regards to Overclocking. (as if that wasnt obvious!)

I would appreciate any suggestions hints about multiplier/clock speed/ voltages etc

System spec is

Authentic AMD 1gig Athlon (7.5 multiplier (default) at 133 clock speed, 266 FSB)
Taisol Heatsink with Arctic Silver II
512mb PC133 SDRAM
Epox 8KTA3+Pro mobo
Creative 3dBlaster Geforce 3 Titanium 200 graphics
Videologic SonicFury soundcard
Standard ATX case with power supply that can handle/cool up to 1.8 gig (or so they said in the shop!)
1 intake fan at front of case, above that uner the HDD another fan - at rear 1 extraction fan and power supply extraction fan.

Current system temps under load:-
CPU temperature = 43c 109f
System temp = 26c 78f

Your temps look ok so far, but we kinda need to know the rating on the power supply and the stepping on the cpu itself. This would be the first four letters on the second line. For instance if it is AXIA or AVIA you should be able to hit 1400MHz. AYJHA is even better, maybe 1500MHz. If your power supply is rated at 300-watts, that is gonna limit the overclock. You need a good 350 or 400-watt for higher speeds. My first suggestion is to lower the multiplier to 6.5 and raise the fsb speed until your are not stable. Hopefully, you can hit 150-155, your board can do it easily if your RAM is up to the job. Once the maximum fsb is established, set the core voltage to max (1.85v) and start raising the multiplier. If you power supply was decent and the stepping was a good one, maybe 9.5 x 150 for 1425MHz should be your goal. With a lesser stepping maybe 8 x 150 for 1200 or 8.5 150 for 1275Mhz. Download NVmax and overclock that video card, 200/480 should be easily reached. Keep an eye on your cpu temps, 10c more that stock is about the most you wanna run for the cpu.

Oops - just after posting the above my system crashed - just shut down - an error message came up upon reboot (XP error message but it only stayed on the screen for about a second so I couldnt read it )

Thanks for the reply m8.

I did have a look at the cpu once i cleaned the gunk off it from my old heatsink

it read :-

A1000AMT3C
ASHHA 0138EPHW
9471260912

I think the "ASHHA" bit might be wrong? - I checked another web page for the AMD 1gig stepping listings and I couldnt find that name :(

It may have been cause I hadnt cleaned off all the revious gunk - also my eysight is a bit fooked.
