its driving me nuts, its gotten so loud, i cleaned it out and everything..... should i just unplug then power to it or would it hurt it? i dont game much anymore, and plus i dont overclock.... what else could i try if not unpluggin the power to it?
Try unplugging it. I did for a while but I experienced lockups. Of course, it was at a time that I was fighting a crappy mobo too. Back when this Radeon was new plenty of people reported sucessfully running it fan-free.
Best thing would be slap on any ol' 25 cent CPU heatsink. I know my Radeon LE came sans fan but the heatsink is a bit bigger than those on retail Radeon's with fan.
Or are you very good at cutting aluminum? *snip*
Find someplace with real old junk - you should be able to get the perfect sized heatsink for next to nothing. 🙂
actually i have one of those pci slot fan things (it dosnt connect into the slot), but it can either suck out or blow in air..... would that be good enough to set beside it?
