Ok,

I use SCSI in my own rig, with proper termination etc... But I am now building a Firewall machine for a small office, and I have some stuff laying around.

AOpen AX6B+ MB with Adaptec integrated AIC-7880p SCSI controller, and an extra Seagate Cheetah 18LP (U2W SCSI/ 10 000 rpm) HDD. Since I am only using this one disk, and the controller is only UW SCSI (same as AHA-2940UW), do I need a terminator or is it ok just to place the HDD to the end of the SCSI cable.
The cable is a SCSI3 cable w. 2 connectors.

SCSI pros pls help! Thanks.

There should be a termination jumper on the drive, just close that and you are terminated :)

Umm, There is a jumper for providing termination power? But I dont think this is the same thing? Or is it?
I remember reading somewhere that none of the LVD drives have terminators, but I am not sure.

you close a jumper, and the drives built in terminator is enabled.

edit: wasnt paying attention..

if there is no terminator jumper, you will need a terminator.

Just Cheking,

Is termination power = Terminator??? If I close the "terminaton power" jumper, is my Cheetah 18LP terminated?
I would not like to buy a separate terminator.

What problems can I have if I do not use a terminator? My scsi cable is only 60cm long, so that should not be an issue.
