I have 2 versions of Photoshop. One compressed with stuffit, the other on an instalation CD
Presently I cannot use either in one of my Macs which has no CD rom.

I have 7 G3 macs ( 6 have cd rom one does not). with either 9 or early 10 OS cannot recall but I was able to install this CD photoshop on the other macs in my classroom, but not the compressed one. ( I am a teacher of photography new to digital medium, and Macs.) Our school tech pple are only PC savy...
I need to install photoshop on the Mac with no CD rom, and I have a PC at home and a Jump drive USB 1 gig size.
I do not know if a Mac can use a unzip or only stuffit. I tried to install a compressed photoshop, program, and unpack it but it said I need the stuffit engin, when I tried to install a stuffit program. :) Bwahahahah...

Can I take an installable CD that works on CD rom Mac ( uncompressed), and compress it on a PC with winZip so I can install it on a CD Rom-less Mac via usb jump drive.? Must I compress it on a Mac? and what compressions can I Use this one time to both compress on a PC and decompress on a Mac?

why not just dowload stuffit (the free version) onto the macs and use the compressed version you already have?

The Software StuffIt Expander (Version for OS 9 / for OS X 10.1 and higher) decompresses both StuffIt .sit files and .zip files.

Either
save the image on your USB stick and copy it to the G3's hard drive
or
use your LAN/get an Ethernet cable, put your installation CD in a functional CD drive and access it through the network (some software requires local presence of the CD though)
or
use your LAN/get an Ethernet cable and copy the image to the G3's hard drive.

Click the apple on the top right hand corner, and click About this mac. It should tell you what OS you are running. :)

Guies :) the computers are at my High School where I teach :)

So what I need is still another way

Have any of you ever been able to tuse a USB chord to network 2 macks so I could copy photoshop from one mac's CD to the other, or install it from there.

I cannot ask my Tech people to help network 2 macs they just will not work with macs. I need this by tomorrow early :(
If I can unstuff the photoshop on my Jump drive USB then I'm ok too.

So I downloaded all the versions of Stuffit so I will be sure to unpack photoshop if I cannot get to the CD data.

can I zip the mac CD with winZip on my PC and put it on my jump drive and unzip it at school, on the mac with stuffit?

Photoshop 7 runs on OS 9 and X...

Why do you have to mount or decompress the image on the USB drive, you can do it on the G3 (and transfer StuffIt Expander, too). And yes, you can zip the mac CD with winZip on your PC and put it on my jump drive and unzip it at school, on the mac with Stuffit Expander?

Or tell your network admins to move their lazy a$$es and to hand you over an Ethernet cable (preferrably a crossed one, don't know since which version of Mac OS normal one work), because I'm not sure if networking through USB would be possible.
