Computer will have Front USB 2.0 Ports.

I'm getting a 7-in-1 card reader too.

the seller also has a 10-in-1 card reader with Firewire for Only $10 more..

I should probably get it .. or do I need it? (Printer etc)

Could it cause any Problems?

thx

no you dont need it, printers all connect by USB

camcorders and ipods are the only things that use fire wire, actually ipods can use both

Firewire is no faster than usb2, really, though it can carry a higher current and so provide more power to peripherals.. that said, I didn't think you could even buy mainboards without it these days... At any rate, no, you don't need it.

With everyone having a Digital Camera.., I cant believe anyone gets a computer without a card reader these days. Thye're really cheap too. This one costing me $19 installed.. can be found even cheaper on ebay.
My friend has 2 kids .. and have different cameras. and they can all use the same computer (if they have to that way) or if a friend comes visiting with another Camera .. or if you get another Brand/type of Camera in the future they're great

It's an 'apacer' and reads

Accept CF Type I & II, Microdrive, SM, MMC, SD, MS , MS/PRO .

The Firewire Port is ON the 10-in-1 card reader. (not the 7-in-1 whcih has an extra USB port) That was the option

I'm getting a new Athlon 3500 sys with an ASUS 939 MB.. so it must have it on the MB

Firewire 400 is actually a tab bit slower than USB 2.0, but the isosynchronous trasfer mode that the Firewire is capable of is better suited for importing DV footage.

Not all boards have it, that depends on the chipset they use. The cheaper boards sometimes leave off the firewire. I have a digital camcorder, so I have had firewire for 3 years, I have yet to find another use for it.

i would get a better video card that 5700FX is pretty crappy, at least go with a 9700 or 9800 pro if not a 6800/6800GT

Thanks for that.. I agree on the Card

I am an Intense and heavy user..
Pageviews and Hours a day you wouldn't believe...BUT .. I am not a Gamer.. and don't need a Killer Card.

I could have even gone with a less expensive 3200 or 3400 S754 processor .. and even a Radeon 9200 Card or Geforce 5400/5200.

But I wanted the Upgradeabilty the 939 Processor will afford for a longer cycle than the 754's that's why the System is stronger on the Processor (as you Rightly point out) than on the card.
(and the systen I'm buying now is optimized dollar-wise this way as this is his main Config.. once you start playing.... you know)

I just had to replace the thing I am typing on now.

The ME is Corrupted beyond belief (as was my ME before that)... and the components clearly outmoded.
I made them work pretty well with some tweaking.. but I'm Tweaked out now.

Thus the above new system

I am not yet Capable of Building my own machine.. and those aren't all my 'dream' components.
Fantasizing...
I would start with a Silver Cooler Master Cavaliere case with analogue read out Dial; an an even more powerful Athlon, a single Seagate 146mb 10,000RPM drive, (or a Maxtor 250GB with a 16mb Cache) and an ATI x800 Card if was to .... put together something I REALLY didn't need .. but may take on as a fun project.

In real world tests firewire is faster than USB2 for transferring big files, so its better suited for external hard drives or importing DV footage from a DV camcorder. If you don't plan on doing either of those things, then you most likely won't need firewire. You can always buy a firewire card later should the need arise.

I bought a new Canon printer (i9900) that has both firewire and usb2 ports. However it turns out the firewire port is only good for connecting to MAC's -- there's no windows support for it. I guess Apple likes the firewire bus more than MS does. Anyways, apart from DV, haven't found any use for the firewire on my PC.
