Do i need "EXTREME" RAM if i don't overclock at all?

alright peeps, i play on getting some value ram 2x1 GB worth. now, i think for the dfi board there seems to be some slots that are considered "main" slots? as if its better to run the best ram in these slots? am i way off base here? i think the orange slots on the dfi ultra are supposed to be the slots that you run your best ram in, now would i put the 2x1 GB im about to buy in these and the 2x512 i have in the other two or do they really not matter whatsoever?
