do i need blackice if i have zonealarm?

just wondering they both appear to do the same thing cept it looks like zonealarm does a better job

they do similar things except ZA will block out-going transmissions.

No. that is just what people should be doing.

The flame wars start when comparing BID to ZA. The which is best cr@p starts and then it gets out of hand.

what is there to argue about ? if your firewall is running on the same hardware as the stuff you want to protect then, well, nevermind ;)

The fun starts when detailing which features are better. ZA stops out-going packets, BID doesn't. This is how it starts.

Black Ice Defender works just as well as Zone Alarm with the exception of the fact that it expects you to know what you are doing with a computer. Why would you need to block outgoing connections if you only install the stuff you want to make outgoing connections?

TPF blocks outgoing packets, too. Been running it for six months and haven't had a single problem.
