I have a ubiquiti AP on the side of my house that faces a tree 30' away with 2 powered 2.4ghz wifi cams in the tree (pointing at an owlhouse). The 2.4 ghz signal to/from the cameras occasionally goes bad due to 2.4ghz band saturated in my area. I have to change channels too often but the 5ghz in my area is very free/open. I could try to replace the cameras with 5ghz, but want to take another approach but need help clarifying what networking items I need. I cannot trench underground to the tree nor do I want to 'string cable' from the house to the tree.
I want to "catch" the 5ghz signal from my outdoor AP with "something" that has two ethernet ports on it. I'd then connect the two cams via ethernet cable to the "something". What is the 'something' I'm looking for? A two port range extender? Another wireless access point?
