I've got a two cameras from which I would like to grab video to a PC - a 60fps 1 MP camera running all the time, and a 60 fps 5MP camera running for ~2sec once every few minutes. To handle both cameras continuously I'd need 1.08 GB/s if I've done the math right (6Mpixel*3Bytes/pixel*60fps=1080MB/s) but overall I only need a bit more than180MB/s . Supposedly USB3 can handle 1.2GB/s , would this actually work in practice in this setup? To enjoy the lower average rate of 180MB/s would I need a framegrabber ? If there's a better forum for this lmk

I think yes because Frame grabbers are a crucial part of numerous sophisticated machine vision systems. They are essential for capturing high-resolution, high-quality photographs in a range of situations. Most likely, if you're looking for an industrial machine vision system, you'll require a frame grabber.
