Do I need a DVD decoder card if i've got a GF3 card?

I just installed my GF3 2 days ago, and just agreed to a deal for a DVD drive. I've seen the different cards available and am wondering what the benefit (if any) is of having a seperate DVD decoder card. Also, i'd like to think there is no additional benefit since I just dropped $350 on the GF3.

Can anyone give me some insight??!!

If you don't have VIVO, a decoder card will give you tv-out of DVD's(perhaps even divx with a hack), but you certainly won't need hardware decoding on your system for watching on your PC.

GF3 has decoding built right in. Actually, most modern cards do. Just get a software-player like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

Yeah, i've got VIVO, but it'd just be for on my PC anyway. I got the Gainward Golden Sample from newegg. So, sounds like i'm all set!

Not accurate. Most modern cards have hardware assistance. The decoding is done by the processor, not the video card. Some ATI cards and Hollywood add on cards decode. Needless to say, with a >400mhz CPU and a modern card, software decoding is perfect. A GF3 will handle the task nicely.
