This. You need a new box OP. A 6700 in a H170 board with 16GB RAM and a 500GB SSD would obliterate any CPU AMD currently has.

Need or want? Because I'll take one of those along with the new delidding tool, a licensed copy of Windows 10, a vial of Liquid Pro, a GTX 1080 with a waterblock, and a brand new high-end custom loop. I definitely need this, as long as I don't have to pay for it.

OP is running old crap from 2009/2010, its time for a new system not a partial upgrade. What I suggested is a basic all-rounder.

I've been advising people to wait for Kaby and Zen if they intend to do a new system with pricier parts. That makes the most sense for someone who has waited that long, particularly since Broadwell C embarrassed Skylake thanks to its EDRAM.
