Do I need a controller with Abit KA7-100ATX MOBO??

I'm a newbie building my first machine. Will I need to buy a controller to go with an Abit KA7-100ATX? I am pairing the mobo with a 800Mhz Athlon.

I am not clear about the need for a controller.

What do you mean, a controller for what? If you could be a little more specific, I could try to answer your question.

The controller for ata100 is on board.You do not need anything else to make your ata 100 hdd work.If you wish a scsi device,you need a controoler card for that to work.If you are setting up a raid array,you would ned an additional controller. I doubt you are going in that direction if you are new to building computers. I hope this helps.

Tripleshot: Actually, the Highpoint 390 chip supports Raid, and no card is needed. It is still in a beta phase now from Abit, but it is something that will be working correctly with new bios updates.
