do i need a chair mat on laminate floors?

I have pine laminate floors in my office. The chair mat I have been using has really been bothering me. If I get rid of the mat, will it scrape up the floors?

yes it does have wheels. I'll just leave it be I suppose if it's going to dull up the floors.
