My dad bought a bunch of Siemens 2.4 ghz phones for cheap (yes they suck). Anyway, they are so horrible that you cannot use them to carry on a conversation. He swears it's the phone line, but I'm using a corded phone now and get no problems. I need a cordless phone, and will 2.4 ghz make a huge difference to me? I know you can talk from far away, but I will mostly be using this in a small 1700 square foot house. I was looking at the 900 mhz phones from Best Buy and some look pretty cheap but nice. Also, what brands should I avoid?

Thanks a lot guys,

Beau

A 900MHz cordless will do just fine in a house of your size. I have a Panasonic and it works perfectly!

Ditto on the 900MHz. Using the $30 AT&T ones here and they work to the end of the next street (about 1/2 mile) just fine..

I have both an older 45 mhz and a newer 2.4 ghz in my house.

Both have equally good reception throughout my house...and my house is a bit bigger than yours.

When I ran out and purchased a ATT 2.4Ghz phone I didn't notice a difference from my cheap ATT 900 Mhz phone.

Save your money and go buy the less expensive 900 Mhz.
