Do I have enough power for a 6800 ultra?

Hi i want to buy an Xfx Geforce 6800 ultra but I'm concerned that my power supply isn't big enough. This is the one that I've got http://www.arctic-cooling.com/...php?idx=4&data=1&disc= Reading the tech specs it seems to indicate that I would. Just didn't want to buy it and then have to buy a new psu (especially as this would probably mean buying a new case aswell because of the was its positioned within this case). Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I want to ooder before they're out of stock again!! Thanks in advance.

It doesnt give a whole lot of info on the PSU, but at first glance i would say you will be ok. I would like to know the amps on the 12v rail. My 500w PSU has a 34a 12v. If that one has even a 24a, i am thinking you should be good to go.

Quick answer....your fine.

what i would reccommend is not buying XFX, seen alot of threads on this forum about the suspect quality of XFX cards, but if there is no alternative then go with them

Best 6800 Ultra for the price is an EVGA. Easily under 480 right now almost anywhere. Only 460 on newegg right now. 499.99 at retail stores like circuit city.

Looks like it is a seasonic power supply, so you will be fine.

See here what they tested it with: Link

and another thing, don't get the Xfx card.

You're going to laugh but here's what's running on my Antec 480W.

7 Hard Drives (yep, seven)
6800GT
DVD-ROM
DVD Burner
5 case fans
1 92MM CPU fan

Microcenter in Cambridge, MA still has eVGA Ultras for $439 + sales tax. I have one and like it much. Only "issue" is it comes with no extras like games or video cables. Two DVI->VGA adapters, though.

I run, with an AMD64 3400+ and 5 optical drives and all PCI slots taken, on a Zalman 400B which is rated 18A on 12 V IIRC. No problems at all, neither under Windows or Linux.

Thanks guys. Gonna get a 6800gt as soon as I can find one in stock. Just can't convince myself that its worth paying an extra £130 for only a slight increase in clock speed. GT'll be fast enough for me!! Thanks for your advice
