Do I have enough juice for a 7800GT?

I'm building a new rig as described below:

ANTEC P150 w/ NeoHE 430 PS
AMD 64 X2 3800+ (will be OC'd)
OCZ PC4000 1 GB x 2

I want to use a 7800GT, most likely one of the eVGA models but the website states that it requires atleast 450 W PS. Will I still be able to use a 7800 GT with my PS?

What is up with the four eVGA cards at Newegg?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCo...4130249,N82E16814130238&SubCategory=48

I realize that N517 and N518 are the newer versions with N517 being the CO version, but why would anyone buy the N518 when it costs the most and is clocked the slowest? Seems to me the best deal is the N516.

Also, on the eVGA site it states that the lifetime warranty is only good for model numbers that end in AX, DX, or FX. Is it assumed that all the cards sold at Newegg are covered under the warranty even if Newegg shows that some of the model numbers do not end in AX?

Thanks for the help.

You should be fine, as the Neo is a high quality PSU. The dual core does eat up a lot of juice on its own, but you should be able to run your system without problems.

It would have been safer to get a 480W+ PSU, but I believe that the P150 comes with the Neo 430W, so it's a good deal. What kind of +12V rating does that PSU have? Anything above about 25A should be adequate.

Give it a shot - worst case scenario it will be flakey and you'll have to buy a 500W PSU (eg Enermax Liberty or Noisetaker or OCZ Modstream/Powerstream are some good choices!).

Out of the 5 cards shown in your link, I would get either the N516 or N517, because, the heatsink/fan are the same as the ones on the GTX. Bigger fan diameter. All the others would be fine as well, but have the standard GT coolers (smaller fan).

dual cores shouldn't take up much more power than a 130NM newcastle...

The power consumption on the X2's is no more than the Single cores.. Or within a few watts..

That 7800GT uses less power than the 6 series as well, so you should have no problems at all!

Thanks for everyone's help. I think I am going to order the 516. I just hope that I don't have the same problems some people are reporting with the 516. Hopefully, I get a card that overclocks well. I think I'm going to put an NV Silencer on the card since I am trying to build a "quieter" PC.
