Do I have a right to complain?

Where I work, we have an employee cafeteria where I am able to have lunch for free (well, at least I don't have to pay for it out of my own pocket) on any day that I work. Usually, they have pretty good food with a wide variety. But lately, the food has been terrible. The stuff that is supposed to be hot is not, the lettuce is brown, soups and/or sauces are watered down etc., and they have been repeating the same things over and over again. For example, we have had roast beef and gravy on 4 days (including today) this week and I am pretty sure it is not "fresh" roast beef every time. I am starting to feel like I am back in my dorm in college again.

My question is...Do I have a right to be complain or should I just be thankful and happy that I don't have to pay for my lunch?

seriously though... strength in numbers. Get some of your co-workers to complain as well. That should help instead of making you the only squeeky wheel.

get the board of health in there if the food is in that bad of condition...

Somebody at your place of work is paying for that food, and they probably expect to get their money's worth. Now, if the company catering the cafeteria is providing low quality, potentially rotten/bad food that could make the employees sick, then I'm sure whoever is paying for said food would like to know about it. There are lots of regulations governing the preperation and serving of food to be served to the public, so you might want to give your local health inspectors a call if you don't think you can address it within your organization...

The cafeteria is not catered by an outside company. The food is prepared here on property. It isn't really that I am concerned for my health or anything, the food just doesn't taste that good and there really hasn't been any variety.

Well, does another company make the food on site? I think that is what was meant. Like the company that does the food for our school; they use school facilities, but is contracted.

Yes you have a right to complain. Even though you don't pay out of pocket for it, you are still really paying for it. The company offers this essentially as a benefit. That money is still coming out of your paycheck. Think about it.

Of course, you can always complain, but what good does it do? This country is going wild without a president

Contribute to the suggestion box, or call the local Health Dept. and file an anonymous complaint that will send an inspector to the cafeteria who will catch the attention of the Company's EO's.

Of course you have a right to complain. if that were me, I'd rather pay and get good food than not pay and get food that may someday be bad enough to kill me.
