My sister
1. does not live at home
2. We're paying $50 a month for cable internet that is only 3MB,
3. Her cable internet is extremely unreliable and
4. Shes here only 3 months out of the year

Her internet has been cutting out eversince she got the cable but she refuses to switch to DSL, she has this mindset that cable is inherently faster despite the fact that shes got the cheapest cable plan (3Mb). I try to convince my dad and her to just get DSL because it's only $13 a month. Everytime I bring up the arguement, they get very angry and should I say, "violent"?

My dad tells me to shutup and and so does my sister, it's like as if I'm reccommending her to get a boob job or lipo or something like this.. I just don't under stand, we have DSL in my mom's room, it's much more reliable and my mom never complains about it so I can't figure out why we can't just put my sister on the DSL plan. I just doesn't make any sense and them becoming EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE about it is just absurd.

put a router on your mom's connection and use that. Your problem is now solved unless you can't keep your nose out of everyone else's business...

How about you upgrade to DSL Elite (6MB), get a router, and drop cable completely? Since you've got DSL you obviously have a phone line, so this plan would be the easiest to implement and everyone gets faster speeds.

Wait you have DSL in one room, and Cable in another?

Believe it or not, we have Two cable modems (from two different providers) and one DSL Modem. The women act like little princesses and think they deserve their own internet connection when it would have made sense to just share the one, 6MB cable with QOS control. The reason we have a 6MB cable and 3MB cable is because my sister, another 'little princess' wanted cable in her room and therefore she got her way. I told her to just go onto our router and I'll set it up for QOS control so the internet doesn't get bogged down, she didn't like the idea (of course) and got her own internet anyways. As the 'good son' that I am, I didn't get a separate internet but instead piggybacked onto my dad's cable internet.

To be honest, I hate the cable, the only thing I like about it right at the moment is the fact that I've got 1Mb upload speeds. The problem with my dad and sister is the fact that they've probably think I'm conspiring against them or some crap, they probably thinking that cable internet is inherently faster, they always try to pin this on me when it's them that should be asking the question (do I need this?).
I tell her DSL is plenty fast (which it is..) and much more reliable than her crapcast internet but she then complains and says "download speeds will be too slow, la la la i'm not listening", like that really matters whether or not it's true because YOU DON"T ****** LIVE HERE.

Don't even get me started on the fact that at least two of my family members have AOL despite the fact they have a completely independent internet connection. (Broadband at college and or THEIR OWN DEDICATED DSL LINE)

Correction, that is THREE internet connections.

I'm so confused, why am I the bad guy for not wanting my family to waste money on things simply because most of their purchases are emotionally driven? Is it wrong for me to look out for others? I try my best to help others by telling them not to do stupid ******, much like a parent but I get scoldid for it, it's really confusing.. Sure I'm not the parent, but does that mean I should be a self centered, money grubbing, wasteful little shitbag that people on this forum are so quick to call me?

And to the person who said amexs', huh? Basically every kid that went to college got their own credit card with apparently no spending limit (that I know of). They basically didn't get their own cars because they live back east and can't drive, only one can drive (excluding my self) and the one who can drive, got her own volvo at the end of her senior year, which she drives 1 month out of the year (when she comes home).

I see how these kids are all a bunch of little JAPS and I don't want them having this attiude that they can just waste my dad's money just because he has it (I fscking hate this mentality, of anyone who could relate, it should be atot).

I don't know who the bigger idiot is, your parents for paying for two internet connections instead of using a router, or you for even really giving a fvck.

AMEX = American Express.... so yeah you answered my question in the affirmative... and confirmed my suspicion at the end... bunch of fckin JAPS.... I HAAATE spoiled ungrateful jewish btches like that. God help whatever man is stupid enough to not realize what he's getting himself into with your sisters. My children will NOT get that treatment so help me god.

Where on the east coast are they anyway? Wait wait let me guess.... The George Washington University? or NYU?

You mind not being racist, and claiming all jews are spoiled, ungrateful, bitches? I know plenty of people who are not Jewish that are spoiled, ungrateful, bitches. Just because I happen to be Jewish, doesn't mean I am.
