We need pics of you without your shirt on o see if you are developing a gut. It doesn't help for you to just tell us. We have to determine for ourselves to make a final decision. :D

<< The last thing I need right now is more of that sort of attention >>

cough..cough..lying through her teeth..cough..cough.

If you need to drink every night then you have a drinking problem. That doesn't mean you are an alcoholic (addicted physically to alcohol) but you can be mentally dependent on it. Instead of drinking to release the stress of your job you could try exercise, which would be more effective in releiving stress and improve your phsycal appearance unlike alcohol, which has a devastating effect on your appearance.

Yeah, I'd say either you have it, or you're well on your way to having a problem. 6 nights a week, man. That's a lot.

Too much of anything is no good. It sounds like you're well on your way to having a problem.

If you're really concerned, why not ask your doc his/her opinion?

I thought drinking 2 or 3 nights in a row on a weekend was bad! Yeah I think you have a bit of a problem... sounds like you need the alcohol just so you can feel tipsy and maybe forget other problems/issues in your life.

Why bother posting such a blatently thought out post that makes you look like a textbook drunk? If you truly do drink like you say, then you know damn well you're a drunk, you need no confermation from us. Is it that you just want everyone to tell you that you are a drunk, or that you just want attention and sympathy. Okay, here it is. Go to a detox. Get help, your family loves you. Oh yes, you are an alcoholic!! Get off that poison right away.

How was that?

Ape,
Actually very well said. In hindsite, I probably agree with my friend somewhere deep down. Otherwise, why would i open this part of my life to complete strangers?

I hope you are this much of a straight shooter in person.

I think I'll put it up for a while. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Yes. Two weeks isn't much.

how do you feel when you show up to work with a hangover? Do you feel like a burned out POS and feel sorry for yourself knowing how absolutely pathetic it is? I've done it before and that's exactly how i feel.

Anyway if you start off doing this now you'll never kick it. There are millions of adults who drink basically every night a week. Not to get drunk but a few drinks and it's very bad for you. For one thing your liver can't handle 6 nights of drinking for the rest of your life.

<< People ask WHY I drink, and I think it's a just a bad habit I picked up in college. It's a lot easier to avoid boredom if you are tipsy. >>

Doesn't this tell you something? Drinking is a great way to deal with boredom but it's a patch not a cure. If you're bored every evening find something productive to do because you don't want to look back in the future upon endless month after month of working and drinking. That's a sad life.

Control. If it has more control over you than you have over it, it is a problem.
If you have to have it, if you crave it, if you can't stand the idea of not doing it, especially in certain moments or certain times. If you say "I won't", then you do, you have a problem.
And even if you don't have a "problem", too much alcohol is unhealthy and will shorten your life or give you bad health.

edit: Sarah, I'm a recovering alcoholic. It takes one to know one. You are drinking like this for a reason. So there are two issues:
1. Drinking "problem"
2. Reason why.

Even if you stop drinking, you still have #2, and you will just find something else to replace drinking in order to "deal" with #2.
Number 2 is huge. Nobody can ignore your problems or hurt you as well as you can. Nobody can take care of you as well as you can. You deserve happiness, health, and love. Make it happen.

I am pot dependant, I see no problem with substance abuse. As long as you don't hit anybody.

<< Actually, I've heard this a lot. I've known some women who prefer to have guy friends because "women are just so stupid" (not all women, of course, but I think you know what I'm talking about)

Astaroth33

Not stupid, but irrelevant. I mean, who really wants to go to a Pampered Chef party? How 'bout a Baldurs Gate all-nighter? Try to get the girls together for that!

I'm down with that, heck I've even got the dual Athlon MP rig for server :D

Seriously,as a woman who's always marched to the beat of a different drummer I hear your frustration
but there are other women out here who think a lot like you do.

Polgara,

If the situation is as you've outlined it in your first post, yes, you do have a drinking problem. Read tcsenter's post, he is spot on.

If you're blowing smoke up the asses of the gullible geeks at this forum, you have other problems.
