Well, to make a short story short, was snowboarding earlier today, and had a great fall, fell down, googles fell off where my head hit the snow, and was dragging along for a while. Now after taking a nap my head hurts and the room spins when I move my head to the side. What did I break? Some people say I have a concussion.

Boo, I called my insurance's health hotline. They said I should goto a doctor, even if theres the slightest pain. They also said to refrain from snowboading until I get it checked.

Update: Pain gone. Now the dizzyness, comes only when I lay down or move my head back. Doctor and specialist has no explaination. Anyone have any explaination?

The cheapie health insurance I have doesnt cover me to goto another non-emergency physcian when my clinic is closed. If I do go, its gotta be a major emergency (i.e. my head fell off its neck). Best I can do now is Advil. Though my head is knocked, Im more than sure that the people of ATOT are no medical specialists whatsoever.

prob not a concussion. if you had that, you would have been light headed and unaware of your surrondings when you got up. trust me I know. I took a nasty hit to the noggin a few weekends ago playing hockey. I went head first into the boards. When i got up, I asked how long untill the game starts.

Seeing as how I don't see any medical certifications hanging on the walls of ATOT, I'd recommend seeing a doctor, head injuries are nothing to mess with.

Step aside, step aside, ER RN here with 16 years experience, ACLS Certification, ANA Med Surg Certification, (Seriously...)

Go see a freaking Dr., you have a concussion, a bruised brain.

You need x rays to make sure you haven't broken your neck or have a skull fracture.

If you showed up in my ER, I wouldn't even let the Dr. see you, I'd ask them if it was ok to order a CAT scan right off so they'd nave something to look @ & save the Dr. some time...

Hey if you have a concussion and you decide to go tomorrow, tonight might be your last night. . .

You do realize that you might have a fairly serious injury? Docs generally have someone wake you up every few hours after a head injury to make sure you don't wake up dead. Get it checked, at least call a doc.

Umm, thanks, now I cant fall asleep, dont want the brain to shut off until my clinic opens up at 8am tomarrow. If things go bad, like im falling over during the night, I guess I can head down to the ER, but I sure don't know how to pay the bill.

I'd get a family member or a friend or a roommate to check up on you for 24 hours. A concussion is a pretty serious injury, anyways.

Ugh. Speaking of which, I hit my head on a nice piece of plywood and i've been kinda loopy ever since. Let's start a club.

Edit: That's why when you're in the hospital, they don't let you sleep more than 4 hours without being interrupted.

Why not call the ER up and ask. They'll be able to tell you what's what, risks, whether you'll be ok waiting until tomorrow, what to look out for, etc.

In rare cases, along with a concussion, a dangerous blood clot may form on the brain and crowd the brain against the skull. Contact your doctor or emergency department right away if, after a blow or jolt to the head, you have any of these danger signs:

* Headaches that get worse
* Weakness, numbness, or decreased coordination
* Repeated vomiting

People checking on you should take you to an emergency department right away if you:

* Cannot be awakened
* Have one pupil ? the black part in the middle of the eye ? larger than the other
* Have convulsions or seizures
* Have slurred speech
* Are getting more and more confused, restless, or agitated
