Someone breaks into my house.
We struggle, i push him through a huge glass pane..
one of the broken pieces slices and dices his larynx and he bleeds to death.

cops come.

am i guilty of anything? i am in california.
assume we are both bare handed...he might have had a knife/gun, but he lost it in the struggle.

No idea, seems like his death is an accident. Considering he broke into your house, I doubt it, but I don't know CA's laws. In Texas that'd be perfectly ok. Course, he'd be on the receiving end of some slugs though before we ever made it to hand to hand combat.

If you don't call an ambulance for him while he's bleeding on your lawn, they may charge you with a high degree of negligence.

no worries...he's indoors. duh...if he was outside how the heck would i be able to 'recreate' the scene since there will be passers-by and sh1t.

i would say self difence but you never know, if he had a gun then that would be a different story

how is the dead man gonna sue you? or will you be charged for homicide?
 
You cannot defend property with deadly force, so the nature of the struggle would determine the legality. Since the bad guy can no longer tell his side, all you need to do is say that you were defending your person rather than your peoperty.
