Do I even need antivirus software?!?!

The question is how do you know you don't have a virus, trojan or malware on your machine if you don't have the tool to pick it up. Sometimes there are warnings when things don't work as they should, but you may get something you don't know about and then you may be losing information or transmitting info that you are unaware of doing.

You will never need an Antivirus utility until you get a virus 😉
(meaning, you could go months or years without ever being infected and then all of a sudden you get an infection.. the best protection is prevention).

Exactly. A friend recently grabbed a computer someone he knows was going to throw away, because it didn't work. He takes it home, scans for Viruses, Adware, etc, finds tons of crap including a MBR virus. System is now his server working fine.

It's foolish not having protection.
