I've got my old AXP Barton 3000+ running in the basement as our HTPC, hooked up to a Westinghouse screen. I had to order a new case and PSU for it and now my 6800 doesn't fit, so I'm looking to replace it.
The machine decodes 720p movies just fine. I've never had a problem with it in the past couple years. Was the 6800 overkill? I guess I'm just curious what the minimum requirements are for an HTPC video card. I'd rather not spend $50 on a powerhouse AGP card if I can do it for $25.
We're broke and the HTPC is our "cable subscription." Sorry about the noobish-ness. At one time I was ordering gear 6 months after it was top o' the line so I've never had any issues with price/performance or playing HD content.
