...buy an OCZ Agility 3, 60GB SATA III for $50 after $15 rebate ?

I know their SF controllers have gotten a bad rap, but what about now? What about $50 after $15 rebate on MC Facebook deal? Could I pop it in and use it like any other non-OS drive? Or will there be no TRIM support since it's not an OS drive?

Current specs on new budget build:
i5-2500K
Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
16GB (4X4) Corsair Ballistix Sport PC3-12800, on sale at MC with XMP profile
Samsung 830, 60GB OS Drive
Seagate 500GB, 7,200 2.5" pulled from laptop.
Recycled Antec P180 case & Antec 500w modular PSU.

Why not, since it is not an OS drive you wouldn't feel much of the BSOD unless you have programs installed in that SSD itself and they happen to crash. Just format it like any other drive and use. It should have TRIM support since you're not doing a RAID with it.

OCZ Petrol. It's a performance reduced version of Octane. Think it uses async NAND instead of the faster sync NAND. Not sure if its 3Gbps or 6Gbps.

Personally I'd stay away from both.

Sounds like a good price to me. Just make sure you have the latest firmware.

Thanks for the replies. After more digging I think I'll put the $ towards a new monitor next week. FWIW, I am very pleased with my Samsung 830.

The Agility 3 is a lot better than the 2 from what I have read. Got an older Agility 2 in my laptop and I am impressed. Good price, go for it!

Why? petrol has recently been $65 AR for a 120gb ssd.

Uhh...where? I've been scouring Newegg/NCIX/Amazon and various hot deals forums for weeks and the best I've found is a 128GB OCZ Petrol for $99 after rebate.
