Do hobbies tend to turn into addictions for you?

Well this shouldn't be surprising. Why would you have the hobby in the first place? Because you like it, you enjoy it, you want to improve at it, etc. Naturally, you'll do your best to do improve at that hobby as a result, even if it costs money or takes up lots of time. That's what hobbies are for. If you said you enjoyed biking and yet had $50 bike from Target, that wouldn't be a logical state.

I picked up a guitar for the first time ~7 years ago and haven't let go of it since 😉 I'd propably faint if I couldn't play for 24 hours.

Yep. For me it's been photography, ham radio and computers. All potentially very expensive hobbies and addictive, for me, at least.

Hobbies have caused me a lot of financial issues!! Once I start I cannot stop and I like expensive hobbies! I spent at least 6 to 7 grand on motorcycling this year and I already owned my bike...

Yeah... ATOT was a hobby for a few weeks. Now, it's a full blown addiction.

sad but true.....for the past few days i've been posting 50-80 posts a day...kind of exceeds my average of 4 🙁

I know what you mean. I just bought some Speedplay Frogs ($100) and a Koobi PRS Enduro ($130) after getting a $530 bike. I'm hooked!

<edit> I'm still bike shopping!</edit>

Im the same way, and unfortunately I switch hobbies LOTS. Gardening, R/C Planes, Flying, Woodworking, Computers, Car - just to name a few...

sometimes, especially when I was younger. I'm just waiting for my guitar to become an obsession so I can actually become good.

Yep, thats me.

Just finished installing my Windows XP Media Center 2005 on my 74GB Raptor.

Didn't need a new drive just wanted the 74 Raptor.

But as for other hobbies excluding the insane amount of money I spend on electronics then yes, my Nitro RC Truck has had about a grand put into it worth of repairs and upgrades over the past year. My Tahoe gets plenty of money dumped into it. My collection of over 200 DVD's, etc....

I am the master of blowing money on my "hobbies".

Not normally. Reading would be an exception, but for the most part I try to figure out what balance of quality and price that I need in something. I'm fairly anal about money.
