Do glasses make you look smarter?

Just wondering, when you see someone wearing glasses does it give you the impression that the person is bright (before they open their mouths)?

For some people yes but for others, they just make the person seem even doofier. Usually, I just see it but think nothing of it... then again, I'm wear glasses myself.

Not really, a simple-looking fellow wouldn't necessarily look any less-simple with glasses on.

Oh yeah, depends on the type of glasses the person is wearing. If he/she is wearing black rims with duct tape... well you get the picture. On some people glasses affects the facial "look" of the person significantly. I look like a drunkard (even when I'm not squinting) without my glasses on.

Yeah, it all depends. I think the sterotype of glasses = nerd intelligence is over, especially as you get older. I've been wearing glasses since I was in the 4th grade (though I wear contacts now), and back when I was that young, rarely anyone had bad eyesight at that stage.

Yeah, I know what you mean about goofy looking folks, but I'm talking about your average to above average joe. If you saw a guy in a jacket and slacks, clean cut, would you get the immediate impression that the person is smart?

I prefer smaller framed glasses. I tend to think higher of people with those than huge goofy glasses. Or maybe that's just with girls :p

Hmm... if I say a guy like that say on the subway reading a newspaper, yeah I'd get a hint of intelligence in that person.

OK, so if it was established that the average/above average joe looked smarter wearing glasses would it be unethical to wear glasses (frames with plain glass lenses) to attempt to give the impression that they were smarter to try to tip the scales in their favor, if the person had 20/20 vision, let's just say for a job interview.....

Well, they sell those. I remember reading that some celebrities were buying them, but can't recall who...

Does anyone else think Ashleigh Banfield (MSNBC news correspondent) is cute or is it just me?

Yep. Especially if you know how to dress. I got more compliments when I was wearing these 'fake' glasses than when i'm not. Funny thing is... they started looking for it when i'm not wearing it .WTF.

I say I appear smarter with my glasses. because then I don't squint, I can drive without killing people, and I can read. I'm pretty much helpless without my glasses. damn misshaped corneas.

I was about to go to bed when I saw that statement! Ooooh, she is incredibly cute, I love her glasses, it's just too bad she changed her hair color, I liked it blond better, though I prefer brunettes. She is very hot, actually and I applaud you for having a great taste in women :D

There's just something about her, I dunno if it's her face but it's definitely got something to do with her glasses. I wouldn't find her as hot without the glasses on.

That's weird you prefer her blonde hair color? I like it better now. Hehe we're probably the only 2 out of 75,000+ who think she's a hottie.

Glasses can be very very sexy on some chicks. Have you seen sniper (I think that's the one)? Hot diggity, the "school girl" stripper is HOT and the little glasses she wears adds to the appeal big time.

Depends on their face structure... if it is round, I tend to think their not smart but not necessarily dumb either... slender face gives my the impression of sophistication.
