Just get a radio... and if someone says you can't have a radio tell them it's to drown out the noise from the people nearby that talk about non-work related things and cause you to be very unefficient.

For some reason I have a reputation as a good listener (mainly because I have mastered the zone-out-without-looking-zoned-out maneuver), so everywhere I have ever worked women have decided that I actually give a crap about their stupid little jealousies, boyfriend problems, hairstyle changes, fashion dilemmas, shoe stories, bitchy episode du jour, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. They flock to my office, one after another, and drive me nearly insane.

I wish they would just leave me alone, unless they bring food with them.

Some of them do. 2 seats down, this chick talks to her hubby on the phone all day... well, I should say NAGS him all day.

"Jeffrey! What did I tell you?! JEFFREY!! NO!" *slams down phone*

2 minutes later - ring ring ring ring ring

"NO! Don't argue with me! You know I told you to do that last night, why did you wait until today!?! Jeffr-" (gets hung up on)

On and on and on, until the end of time. All day, every day.

I wonder how they get any work done. Unfortunately I can't always tune them out, but my God what a saviour the iPod has been whenever I get a chance to listen.

Fortunately my office isn't near any chatterboxes, but there are a couple of hotties who walk by regularly and make me not want to stand up :) In fact one of them LOVES to be checked out and *intentionally* wiggles and hikes her skirt and stuff when she walks by. VERY hot, but VERY distracting. It's amazing how difficult it is to troubleshoot Active Directory when there's a hot chick stroking her own ass outside your office door. Bizarre.

I used to work with a group of women who would spend about 20 each morning talking about the reality TV show they watched last night. What go me annoyed is that I would actually remember what they said.

A cloth soaked in ether? That thought had occurred, but I don't have any ether.

I think a can of starting fluid would work, I have a windowless van you can borrow for the parking lot kidnapping:D

Well, turns out they are less annoying than I thought! They started talking about lunch and what they are doing. Overheard one of them is doing curbside pickup from a local chain restaurant. So I said "hey, I'm in!" Now I have food, and she let me use her coupons so it only cost $5.

Chatterboxes not shutting up = :|
Chatterboxes buying me lunch =

So listen up ladies. When us guys aren't thinking with our penises, we're thinking with our stomachs.

My cubicle is away from everyone else but next to the kitchen! So I hear most of the stuff they talked about.

I used to work with a couple of women like that. One was waaay over the top and discussed things like how she didn't wear undies when she wore dresses and went on and on about her sexual endeavors. No pics - you don't want them as she was nearing 50. She talked about this stuff loud enough that anyone passing by heard everything

She was fired for all that plus the fact that she had no clue how to do her job, played on Ebay all day or sent IM's constantly...and made way more than most of us.

Where I work now I'm the only girl in my office and that's the way I like it.

I don't have any female coworkers at the moment.

at my last job, though, I was the only male in my deparment. it had its good and bad points. on the one hand, there were a lot more internal politics, but on the other, it was also a much more casual / comfortable enviornment. plus, it was nice having coworkers who actually noticed things like when I was wearing expensive shoes or had just gotten a hair cut ;)

Even at restaurants it is sometimes insane. I go to one place frequented by housewifes gathering for lunch (like a dozen at a time). My neighbor usually calls their incessent chatter clucking of hens and it really does feel like it.
