I bought my LCD ~3 months ago and it's been clear of dead pixels until I noticed something yesterday. A little to the upper left of the screen theres a very small dark point, it's blurred and not a distinct "pixel", but it doesn't go away when I brush the screen with a cloth. Is it possible that a pixel died after 3 months?

1) Dust and clean your screen. Sometimes lots of apparently dead pixels are dust clining to the screen.
2) "massage" the pixel gently with your finger, I mean GENTLY!
3) If those dont work you might be stuck.
4) If you are stuck increase the resolution to make it less noticeable.

Dont feel bad, I have about three dead pixels on my monitor but fortunately for me they are all white and my monitor is at 1280x1024 so I dont notice them unless they are in a dark color somewhere on the screen.

usually dead pixels are there from the start, when the panel is manufactured. The pixels that "develop over time" are just pixels that were always there except one just never noticed them. Also I've seen dead pixels that remain dark, and actually look fine... except when one goes and applies slight pressure to the screen (say.. to clean it) and out pops two or 3 pixels.

It depends... When I bought my SGI (Silicon Graphics Inc) 17.3" 1600SW 1600x1024 16:10 made by Mitsubishi for SGI back in 2000 - it had only one bad pixel. Now it has two. The second one appeared only a few months ago.

just a guess, but a borderline pixel could die over time right? :p like anything else.
