Do cpu coolers typically come with their own thermal paste?

I ordered an ac7 freezer pro and I'm wondering if it comes with thermal paste or do I have to order some separately?

Yes it does... in fact it is already applied. I have alot of respect for that cooler after I recently installed it on my brother's e4300. Oc'd to 3Ghz idles high teens and mid 40s load.

Should come with MX-1, which is great stuff. I bought a large tube of MX-2 which is even better.

Unlike AS5 it doesn't need reapplication either.

Idles in the teens? Somehow I doubt it, as that's colder than room temperature unless you keep your room unusually cold. How are you measuring the temps?

AFAIK CPU temps in the teens would be pretty much impossible without sub-ambient cooling (refrigeration, phase exchange).

You have to watch out for some factory thermal pastes. Some suck, some are good like the MX. I just play it safe and keep a bottle of AS-5. It allows me to control how I apply it too.

I use RealTemp 2.60. Why would I say it if it weren't true? It idles in the high teens. 18c-19c. Coretemp would be 10c higher. Why is that so unusual?

They're unusual because my load temps are comparable to your brother's, but your brother's idle temps are 10C lower than mine. Even my hard drive which has a 120mm fan directly in front of it gets down to 28C lowest with the A/C on, and that's right after cold boot.

I have seen my CPU temps in the mid-teens - but only during the winter when I come home to an unheated house, and in that case, the load temps would be correspondingly lower.

I'm not doubting what you're reading on the screen, I'm doubting that the screen accurately represents the temperature of your CPU.

I already told you why it's unusual. Most rooms are warmer than that, even for people who like their rooms a little bit cool. It's not possible for your processor to be below room temperature, and it's unlikely to be right at it.

That's why I asked if you keep your room unusually cold.

I'm not doubting what you're reading on the screen, I'm doubting that the screen accurately represents the temperature of your CPU.

I think you're taking this a little personally. I don't feel I was sarcastic, I said that I doubted your CPU was really idling in the teens.

I live in Minnesota, in the winters here it gets cold. And sometime just plain brutal. Temps here in my house at the lower level can get down to 14c - 20c ( with a heated house of course ). This is where I kind of like them as heat kicks my ass sometimes. Anyway, my puters, at they're lowest were 25c Maybe. So, what I am getting at is, How do you get lower temps on your rig than the ambient temps?

19 degrees Celsius = 66.2 degrees Fahrenheit

So the only way for it to be PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE for your processor to run this cold on air / water cooling, is if your room temperature is well under 60 farenheit. (well, theoretically with perfect cooling you could get as low as room temperature itself, which is still very, VERY low).

It is my brother's computer. If he lets me take a screenshot, I will. Those are the temps I saw. I have no more to say or prove.

Serradifalco I'm sure its just a matter of your monitor program reporting off temps. Its very common. Even my hardware wire thermal probe on my rheobus is probably off 2-4C. Monitoring programs have been known to be off as much as 15C if I recall. I personally have seen temps as far as 10C when compared to my thermal probe.
