cows will often move away from you. getting them to take a specific direction, however, requires a bit more planning. if you have a dog, a lot of dogs are actually pretty good at naturally moving cows around, but again... getting the dog and cow to cooperate for a specific direction requires training.

Don't believe anyone here! cows are evil! they will take you and eat you. they get kids thinking its fun to go "cow tipping". yet when they do it the cows grab them and make them into a stew!

damn people didn't you ever play Diablo on the cow level? how much more proof do you need they are evil?

We had some cows in the front and back yard this morning. They escaped from the rancher/farmer that lives behind us.
I was tempted to try and shoo them back but I don't mess with anything that can kick my ass.
Will they kick my ass?

Yup.

I actually laughed out loud...

Well done.

Well done, indeed.

A mother cow will aggressively protect her calf. I had one who didn't mind me in the vicinity of my calf but moved with purpose to shoo away my Great Dane (who had zero ill intentions and wasn't even particularly crowding them or trying to.) And he moved. No dummy, my Dane.

Most cows are quite docile, as has been stated. But once, crossing a field, I had an old crone leading a herd move aggressively towards me to cut me off. I swear, you could see in her FACE that she was alpha and a sour puss and didn't want me there. I wish now I'd had a camera with me, because her face and expression was completely different than all the others in that herd.

These nuggets of wisdom are why I keep coming to ATOT.

I know horses will bite sometimes. I remember going to a ranch and this one horse kept attacking me LOL. He'd just take a huge chomp at my head and barely miss as I ducked for my life. I have red hair, and it was even lighter when I was a kid. Probably thought it was a big apple or something.

Cows will sometimes nip at you, but they're pretty docile. I don't know what it takes to get them to move in the appropriate direction though.

Sorry but this is funny to me. I was raised around ranching and worked on several while growing up. I've never had a cow "nip" at me. :D

Getting cows to move it pretty easy, just walking towards them and cutting off any alternate routes you don't want them to take makes it pretty easy to get them to go where you want.

this, In all my years working with cows I have never once had one try and bite me.

You're doing it wrong...

This sounds hilarious to watch.

It actually is when you aren't the guy being run over. I've only see someone seriously hurt a couple of times.

Even when you are the guy being run over or knocked down its still pretty funny.

Wow what a coincidence I was just out flying my model airplane and I had to land near this big cow, well about 40ft away. I did not know if I should walk and get my plane, write it off as a loss or hope it does not rain and get it in the morning. I am from NYC muggers I can deal with, this big ugly wild cow with a large hump on the back of its neck scared the S out of me.
I started to walk towards my plane keeping as far away from the creature as I could and she stood up:Q back over the fence and into the car I went. I went home did some Google searches built up my confidence and went and retrieved my plane. I was still a little scared did not make eye contact and once I retrieved my model I ran like hell. The cow on the other hand never moved just stared at me.
