Just had a cigarette yesterday. I noticed a definite bump in my visual acuity. Things looked sharper and I felt like I could resolve more detail from things like signs in the distance and such. I also felt more present in the moment. It was nice to just stop and look at things.

Anyone else get this? Any idea why this happens?

nicotine is a stimulint. meaning there are potential performance enhancing benefits. most drug critics will say everything is just doing nothing than messing you up and that you are abusing but any one who wants to find out what the specific effects of a substance is can usually find out with the right reference material

nicotine is a vascular constrictor: vasoconstrictor
[-kənstrik′tər]
Etymology: L, vas + constrigere
1 adj, pertaining to a process, condition, or substance that causes the constriction of blood vessels.
2 n, also called vasopressor. an agent that promotes vasoconstriction. Cold, fear, stress, and nicotine are common exogenous vasoconstrictors.

..so more then likely reduced blood flow would result in vision distortions.

smoking can have positive effects, it's not all lung cancer and heart-attacks. The rare times I smoke I always get an erection that stays with me for awhile. Viagra requires a prescription and is expensive. A cig costs about a quarter.
