Do cheap wireless cards work?

I need a 802.11g wireless card but don't want to buy a $100 Linksys so I've been looking around and have found all kinds of cheapo brand cards.. Anyone know which will work and which ones to avoid???

There are a ton that are still considered good that arn't even close to $100 just look through some hot deals. Not sure if you have mPCI on your laptop but I belive Dell sells a B/G cardfor about $50.

Xterasys got good reviews on Newegg, but didn't work with any type of encryption with my router (Linksys WRT54G). I don't know if it was a configuration problem or just a compatibility thing. I ended up just going with a wired connection. Xterasys included drivers also stopped my computer from booting with SP2 (although the updated drivers completely resolved the problem)

Were you looking for an actual PCI card for a desktop or a PCMCIA card for a laptop? Or like I said mPCI.
